Our guide to stand-up, improv and variety shows.

DAVE CHAPPELLE AND THE ROOTS at Radio City Music Hall (Aug. 1-4, 8 p.m.). For years withdrawn from public life, Mr. Chappelle is touring once again, bringing his insightful and often controversial comedy to his legion of fans. Over the course of a three-week residency, he will perform alongside comics including Chris Rock, Trevor Noah and Ali Wong, as well as musical guests like Erykah Badu, Chance the Rapper and Lauryn Hill. For these first four shows he will be joined by the Roots, the “Tonight Show” house band since 2014. (Mr. Chappelle’s Radio City stand continues through Aug. 24.)

MOSHE KASHER AND NATASHA LEGGERO at the Bell House (Aug. 2, 8 p.m.). Mr. Kasher and Ms. Leggero, married for nearly two years, continue to perform together under the banner of their “Endless Honeymoon Tour,” which features individual acts from each as well as jointly offered relationship advice for couples in the audience. Ms. Leggero’s stand-up wraps personal anecdotes in a glamorous exterior, while Mr. Kasher’s comedy is cerebral and surreal.

‘LAUGHTER IN THE PARK’ at Central Park (July 30, 2 p.m.). Every summer, this free outdoor comedy series offers family-friendly stand-up from some of the best working comics in parks around New York. This week’s show is in the Mineral Springs area of Central Park, and features comedy from the headliner Michelle Buteau, famous for her turns on VH1 shows like “Best Week Ever.” Other stand-ups include Charlie Pickering, Anthony DeVito and Saurin Choksi.

‘JOE PERA: SUMMER NIGHTS’ at Union Hall (July 28, 10 p.m.; July 30, 9 p.m.). This comic is best known for his two Adult Swim specials from last year, “Joe Pera Talks You to Sleep,” an animated short in which Mr. Pera speaks soothingly about subjects like voice mail, barns and Stephen Hawking; and “Joe Pera Helps You Find the Perfect Christmas Tree,” a live-action holiday episode. At these shows he will prepare for new specials with bits on breakfasts, women’s ice hockey and decommissioned fireplaces, and be joined by special guests including Dan Licata and Jon Glaser.

JACK WHITEHALL at Music Hall of Williamsburg (July 29, 8 p.m.). Mr. Whitehall is a star comic in Britain, touring arenas and starring in a slew of sitcoms and talk shows. And he’s been carefully building an American following (in 2016 he performed on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon”). His stand-up is energetic and youthful, focusing on relatable and observational topics with a sharp perspective.
