Hillary Clinton to Discuss Campaign and New Book on Colbert’s ‘Late Show’

“What happened,” you ask?

Whether or not you will have read Hillary Clinton’s upcoming book of that title by Sept. 19, she will take to television that night to try to explain it all once again.

On Thursday, CBS announced that Mrs. Clinton will appear on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” in her first late-night television appearance since the presidential election she lost to Donald J. Tump.

The appearance will come one week after the book hits shelves. And the network promises that Mrs. Clinton will sit down with Mr. Colbert to discuss her writing, as well as “her run for the White House in 2016” and “her thoughts on the current administration.”

In a brief email, a spokesman for Mrs. Clinton said that “she looks forward to” the appearance, her second visit to “The Late Show”; she first appeared there on Oct. 27, 2015.

In that appearance, about a year before the election, Mrs. Clinton talked about her campaign and why she wanted to be president.

Asked almost immediately by Mr. Colbert about whether running for president was “fun,” Mrs. Clinton replied: “Some days.”

Now, almost two years and one stinging defeat later, Mrs. Clinton is set to release a memoir that promises to recount both the fun — and not-so-fun — days of the campaign. She will reveal “what she was thinking and feeling during one of the most controversial and unpredictable presidential elections in history,” according to a description of the book posted by its publisher, Simon & Schuster.
