IBM nears deal to buy Red Hat: Sources

IBM is near a deal to acquire open-source enterprise software firm Red Hat, sources told CNBC. The deal could be announced as early as Sunday.

Bloomberg first reported on the negotiations.

In its most recent earnings update, IBM reported lighter-than-expected revenue.
