Trump Wants You to Know: He’s Not Watching TV

President Trump tweeted on Wednesday morning to assure his supporters that he was not spending too much time watching TV — something that made Stephen Colbert a little uneasy.

“I gotta say, it’s not exactly comforting when the person in charge starts randomly assuring you that everything’s just fine. ‘Uh, this is your captain speaking. The plane is functioning perfectly; we are focused on flying, landing and many other things. I have very little time for watching TV.” — STEPHEN COLBERT

That tweet may have been a response to Politico’s report this week that Mr. Trump “is using his relatively light schedule to watch TV and fume.”

“‘Light’? Trump has spent half his presidency golfing. How much lighter can his schedule get? ‘Sir, you have to get up. It’s time to go to bed!’” — STEPHEN COLBERT

“According to friends of Donald Trump Jr.’s, back in college he was a blackout drunk. So he does have a long history of meeting with white Russians.” — CONAN O’BRIEN

“He’s right. Hindsight is 20/20. And I think a lot of voters will be using hindsight in 2020.” — STEPHEN COLBERT, responding to Donald Trump Jr.’s statement that he “would have done things a little differently”
